Tips for Hosting a Party in Your Home
As Realtors, our job covers everything from helping you hunt for the right place to recommending vendors for painting, woodwork, electrical, and even party-planning. Whether you’re thinking about hosting an event or have a kids birthday around the corner, I’m here to help!
We recently hosted an engagement party in our little house for two dear friends. Here’s what I’d recommend for hosting an event at your home:
PRE-EVENT PARTY PREP - Sit down about two months before the event and come up with an idea. Mrs. Southern Social has great inspiration for party themes, decor, and more!
RECIPE FOR SUCCESS -
Stick to one theme
Plenty of food
Beer, wine, and a signature cocktail
Custom cups & koozies (order plenty of extras because everyone will want to keep one or two)
Music
Places to sit
DELEGATE - It goes without question, it takes a village. Let your friends and other hosts pitch in with what they enjoy - florals, invitations, food, beverages, decor, or even day-of manual labor!
START EARLY - My friends probably think I’m nuts but I start purchasing napkins, utensils, paper plates, table cloths, and pretty much anything without an expiration date weeks ahead of time!
STOCK UP ON SUPPLIES - If it’s going to be at your house, be sure to stock up on trash bags, paper towels, toilet paper, and ice!
DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS - The day of the event, you’ll want to do things like turn the AC down, move some chairs out of the way, light the candles, etc. Make yourself a “day-of” to-do list and it’ll really help your prep before the event.
HAVE FUN - Once the event arrives, be sure to have fun! Rain or shine, bringing friends together is that it’s all about!
